The Romanian Athenaeum

Built between 1886-1888 by a French architect, the Romanian Athenaeum represents one of the neo classic architectonic jewelries of Bucharest, a real sanctuary of the Romanian culture that has hosted remarkable concerts of the biggest conductors and soloists of the world.

The Old Princely Court Museum( Princely Palace) and Old Princely Court Church

The Old Princely Court Museum( placed over the ruins of the Princely Palace) and the Old Princely Court Church are testimonials of the Bucharest Fortress built during the rule of Mircea the Old( 14th century) and made a princely residence under the rule of Vlad III Dracula ( 15 century). Opening hours:Mo-Su( 10 a.m.-7 p.m.).

The National History Museum of Romania

This is the most important museum in Romania. It hosts pieces with historical value, discovered on Romanian territory from prehistorical times until the present days. The museum was built in 1970 as an exhibit for the cultural evolution registered among all prehistorical ages in Romania; nearby is located the C.E.C. Palace, built in 1900 as the headquarters of the first public credit institution in Romania. Opening hours: We-Su( 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. during summer); 9 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. during winter).

The Stavropoleos Church

Christian-Orthodox edifice which was named Stavropoleos after the Romanian form of the Greek word Stauropolis, translated as The City of the Cross. In the proximity of the Church there is a construction which shelters a collection of antique icons ( the beginning of the 18th century) and religious objects, as well as as fresco fragments recovered from the churches destroyed during the communist regime.

Museum of the National Bank

The museum hosts an important numismatic collection, that emphasizes the history of the national currency, which is considered both an instrument of influence of our everyday life and an artistic product, expressing cultural and ideological evolutions from the last two centuries.
